Events

Although at Red River Sport our core business is managing our clients’ on-track racing needs, we also have a team that specialises in providing completely bespoke and unique events across the whole spectrum of motorsport.

From circuit racing to ice driving across frozen lakes in Scandinavia, and rally experiences deep in the Welsh forests, below are examples of recent events Red River Sport has organised for our guests.

The Sweet Lamb Rally Experience

Join us at the renowned Sweet Lamb complex for the ultimate gravel rally adventure. It is perhaps most famous for hosting stages of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) Wales Rally GB – a spectator favourite for including night driving and timed road stages.

The complex offers over 20 miles of world-class gravel and tarmac courses, ideally suited to testing all aspects of rally and off-road vehicles.

Sweet Lamb is the place where many top rally teams conduct development testing, but it’s also the setting for an array of other activities, including single-venue rallying, auto-testing and adventure motorbike events.

The gravel roads are maintained to very high standards, as they’re re-graded and rolled regularly, and sections of one to three-mile loops including crests, jumps and water splashes may be combined to create the ideal proving ground for vehicles, components and drivers alike.

However, a shortened 1.5-mile section incorporating jumps and corrugations, providing realistic testing for vehicle development, is also available.

Location
The Sweet Lamb complex is situated near the Hafren Forest in the heart of Mid-Wales, just 40 minutes from the coast.

Our Red River Sport stages are designed specifically to provide training for gravel rallying under the tuition and instruction of top national professional rally drivers and co-drivers, including 2020 British Rally Champion Matt Edwards.

Format
Our cars/weapons of choice are fully rally-prepared MKII Ford Escorts with old-school H-pattern gear boxes and no traction control.

We start with some skid training in the "bowl" and then run two cars consecutively on a pre-determined one-mile stage.

The day is tailored to provide guests with exactly the right amount of driving and down time for one-on-one instruction and technique analysis that will enable them to improve on each subsequent run. A spare car will be on hand in the event of unforeseen mechanical issues.

Workshop, Facilities and Catering
Each day is run out of a large, well-lit workshop that’s fully equipped with electricity, heating, kitchen and recreational facility, with space to accommodate and prepare two cars and equipment.

With the added benefit of changing rooms, landline telephone and satellite broadband, guests can relax and/or analyse their previous performances in comfort while their cars are being fettled, and lunch is served each day either in the workshop’s kitchen or the main complex building.
